What Can You Expect to Learn?
Our training will allow you to develop your skills and knowledge so you can become a 200 hour yoga teacher. While we work as a group, each student will experience and absorb the material as he/she is ready to meet it--which enriches the experience of the whole! You should expect to:
Cultivate your practice, on and off the mat, to encompass all 8 limbs of yoga
Read, learn and discuss yoga history and how it relates to our current day-to-day lives
Find your voice as a yoga practitioner and teacher
Understand meditation and pranayama and how these practices complement a physical yoga practice
Understand the subtle and physical anatomy of the body as it relates to teaching yoga
Understand how to intelligently sequence a BE FLOW yoga class
Feel confident leading a full yoga class to students
Modules
Our Training is a modular style training, which means each important component of becoming a knowledgeable yogi is broken down into its own section. This structure allows us to dive deeply into each topic and fully immerse ourselves in learning, experiencing, and practicing the material. Our training is broken into 5 modules and runs for 3 months over weekend immersions (breaks are built in so you have time to process the material!).
Understanding Asana
A true foundation of the Western yoga practice is asana, or the physical postures that make up a class. We will dive deep into each major asana group so that you understand the benefits, anatomy, modifications/up levels, prep/counter poses and cues of the asanas.
Experiential Anatomy
Interested in learning the mechanics of movement? This module will help you understand the anatomy of the human body as it relates to teaching yoga. You will learn about the basic systems of the human body (muscular, skeletal, and nervous) so that you can intelligently teach and sequence a yoga class. You will also learn about common injuries and how to teach to them in a classroom and private setting.
Sequencing Essentials
Have you ever left a yoga class feeling uplifted, balanced, relaxed and energized all at the same time? Sequencing is the key to unlocking the benefits of our physical practice. Using the insights gained in other modules, we will look at how to intelligently sequence a BE FLOW yoga class.
Yoga Philosophy & Living Your Yoga
Yoga is more than a physical practice; it encompasses mind, body and soul, and it is a way of living and being. We will look at the historic yoga texts and how they can influence and benefit our day to day lives. Required reading will be a part of this module so that discussions can be dynamic and meaningful. At BEYOGA, we believe yoga is more than a physical practice and we want our program to educate trainees on all aspects that influence the yogic lifestyle.
Teaching Tools & Finding Your Voice
New to teaching and leading a room full of students? Fret not, this module will help you learn to speak and guide students clearly and succinctly. It will also help you find your voice and your personal teaching style while developing the skills to be successful in front of a group of students, or in a one-on-one setting.
