Reformer Pilates in Houston

Reformer Pilates classes in Houston are offered at The Studio BE, with mat and reformer Pilates available at our Heights, Montrose, and River Oaks studios. BE Reformer is an intentional, full-body class that uses the reformer machine to build strength, control, and flow, guided by instructors trained in-house under our own certification program.

What Is Reformer Pilates?

Reformer Pilates is a form of Pilates performed on a machine called a reformer, a sliding carriage connected to a set of springs that create adjustable resistance. Instead of relying only on body weight like mat Pilates, the reformer lets you push, pull, and control that resistance through a much bigger range of motion.

The result is a workout that builds strength and length at the same time. You’re working against something the whole class, but the machine also supports and guides your form, so the movement stays controlled instead of forced.

What to Expect in a BE Reformer Class

BE Reformer is built as an intentional, full-body experience, not a random string of exercises. Each class blends strength work, control drills, and flowing sequences that move you from one position to the next with purpose.

Your instructor adjusts spring tension and setup for your body and your goals that day, whether that’s building strength, working on rehab and stability, or just moving well. No two bodies use the same resistance, and that’s exactly the point.

Our River Oaks studio, a favorite for the reformer format, is well outfitted for group reformer classes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is reformer Pilates?

Reformer Pilates is Pilates performed on a spring-resistance machine called a reformer. The sliding carriage and adjustable springs let you build strength through a full range of motion, with more support and control than mat work alone.

A single class at The Studio BE is $38. New clients can start with 4 classes for $88, which can be used on reformer, mat, or any other class style at any of our three studios.
Yes. Every BE Reformer class opens with guidance on how the machine works, and your instructor adjusts spring tension to match your experience level. Most first-timers are moving confidently by the end of class.
Form-fitting clothing without loose fabric, and grip socks, are best. Loose clothing can catch on the machine’s moving parts.
Mat Pilates uses your body weight, light weights, a Pilates ball, and resistance bands to fire up every muscle. Reformer Pilates uses a spring-loaded machine for added resistance and support, letting you move through a bigger range of motion with more control against and with the spring load. Both torch, lengthen, and tighten, building core strength, alignment, and flexibility, they just get you there differently.
